Born in Bulgaria and raised in Los Angeles, Ivaylo Getov resides in Brooklyn, NY living the gypsy lifestyle of a freelance Cinematographer. In 2009, he graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU with a BFA in Film and a minor in Philosophy, as well as studying in Cuba at the University of Havana and with the Ludwig Foundation, where he completed a short experimental documentary. As a cinematographer, he has earned credits on numerous shorts, music videos, and documentaries as well as shooting films and photo essays across three continents and countless countries.

Sorry for the double post if you also follow my Pose blog, but I want to make sure I spread the word. It is my absolute pleasure to announce that our little film has been accepted as an Official Selection in the Brooklyn Film Festival.  In what will hopefully be the first of many this season, Pose will screen in competition in the Experimental Film category.   The festival runs June 3-12 (closing night also happens to be my birthday, so I’m double excited). When they post specific showtimes next week, I’ll update the blog to let you all know.  The films this year are screening in two awesome theaters in Brooklyn: indieScreen in Williamsburg, and Brooklyn Heights Cinema (down the street from my favorite Pizza in NY and my second favorite ice cream in NY). Tickets are pretty cheap, and I have a limited number of passes and discounted tickets, so drop me a line if you’re interested in going and I look forward to seeing you there!  There is an audience choice award in each category so if you can’t make it, please tell 100 friends to come. Thank you again for all of your hard work, faith, and good vibes.
